The relief monoprints and collages are part of a series of one of a kind prints made during the pandemic. They express both frustration and hope. Each piece is numbered from the day in March that I started the work. ( Example. P 300 was complete 300 days from the time in March when I began). This process allows me to step outside my regular studio practice and work in an intuitive way.
My monoprints are unique images created by printing multiple linoleum blocs on top of one another. I print more solid areas from plexiglass plates and use a silkscreen for the base color often pink or yellow. Some pieces also include hand painting fine details, therefore every print I make is unique and not part of a larger edition. Using multiple blocks and layers, I create a sense of entanglement and freedom. The vivid colors evoke hope.
