Day Dreaming
Day Dreaming You’ve seen her before; in a quiet cafe or at the park. She had a faraway look and an international flair. She was timeless and elegant. And you wondered if she really belonged here because her beauty and her manner reminded you of another time and another place. Lost and found all in one piece of art.
Beginning with a charcoal sketch I create my images using layers and layers of fabric. I call the process “textile mosaic”. To have the mosaic effect every small piece of cloth sits next to another piece. I use a multi-step archival adhesive applied with a brush. Every piece of cloth is added one at a time. All the fabric is hand cut. The cloth I use is cotton and silk, only natural fibers. Using vintage, recycled and hand dyed fabrics I utilize a variety of pattern size and colors to create light, pattern, depth and texture.
