Hope You Dance
Hope You Dance: When is the last time you danced with the joy of a child? The artwork references our inner desires which are often forgotten. There is something beautiful and passionate about the innocence of a child enjoying a moment without a care in the world.
Beginning with a charcoal sketch I create my images using layers and layers of fabric. I call the process “textile mosaic”. To have the mosaic effect every small piece of cloth sits next to another piece. I use a multi-step archival adhesive applied with a brush. Every piece of cloth is added one at a time. All the fabric is hand cut. The cloth I use is cotton and silk, only natural fibers. Using vintage, recycled and hand dyed fabrics I utilize a variety of pattern size and colors to create light, pattern, depth and texture.
