Myth:On Mount Olympus there were 12 original Gods and Goddesses. The 6 here are the Women Goddesses. Hera was Zeus wife, Aphrodite was the Goddess of Beauty, Hestia was the Goddess of the Hearth(home), Demeter was the Goddess of Nature, Athena was the Goddess of Wisdom, Artemis was the Goddess Huntress. The small photo is, in my imagination, their modern equivalent.
I work in encaustic mixed media. I paint with beeswax, resin and pigment and then fuse with heat. I explore the nature of myth which is universal and mirrors our own mythologies in the present tense. Wax enables them to persist, revealing layers of time as their own brand of relic.
