Luisa's paintings are more accurately described as sculptures on canvas. The work incorporates four stages: the sculpture--hand sculpted layers of marble dust (pulverized marble stone), gesso, and a base layer of oil, ink or acrylic for color; second is painting with oil, ink, or acrylic with marble dust for saturation and texture; third is staining with heavy patinas to achieve negative space and shadow; fourth is the resin process which seals the piece indefinitely.
