Nothing is more practical than the repurposing of materials to create art. We have saved thousands of pounds of hatmakers felt from the landfill by cutting and nailing each piece to a carved wood base creating sculptures filled with texture, depth and detail. The face details on this piece are so intricate that each whisker is cut out of metal and painted with a fine tip brush. The background and frame are wood, collaged with layers of vintage papers which are alternately painted, rubbed with pastels and sanded to reveal hints of hidden elements.
