The fish is the subject of beautiful legends and stories throughout cultures world wide. It is a symbol of good luck and prosperity. Since water brings life, all the creatures living beneath its surface will symbolize fertility, birth, and rebirth.
In the Asian culture, fish are a sign of prosperity and given as a wedding gift for fertility and a happy marriage. Fish are among the most widely used symbols in Jewish folk art. The water that covers them is said to protect them from the evil eye. And their eyes, like the eyes of God, never close, so they symbolize God’s protective gaze. Our fish sculptures are some of my favorites to create. When you really study the details of all of the colors in the scales and fins it is fascinating. The layering of acrylics on metal to create the same depth and dimension that the felt is the finishing touch on each of our animal portraits and provide the soul of each piece.
